About the authors
Angela Blaen and her children, Tom and Anna, live in Devon. Angela Blaen was for many years Honorary Lecturer and Fellow in English Folklore at the University of Exeter, from where both she and Tom gained their doctorates and where Anna is currently studying for one. The family have all grown up around Crediton in mid Devon and, inspired by the landscape around them, have developed a love of folklore. Tom has for many years been researching the history of magic and medicine, in particular beliefs relating to precious stones. He is the author of Medical Jewels, Magical Gems and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Anna read English and Philosophy at Exeter at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is currently studying for a PhD there.
